It offers a high standard at a reasonable cost. The instrument is made using an inside mould giving fine detail and accuracy to the assembly of the body. The Conservatoire has a carved spruce front and carved flamed maple back and ribs, finished in Stentor's Shellax™ varnish which has been developed over many years. With ebony fittings and traditional inlaid purfling, this responsive instrument is a high quality outfit often recommended for its sound. The Stentor Messina is the first in Stentor's range of high-grade orchestral models. These are superb individually handcrafted instruments, carved from selected and figured tonewoods. The Stentor Messina violin is made in a specialist hand workshop within the Stentor factory, where the most skilled individual workers produce under the close supervision of a master maker, in a traditional luthier's environment that would be familiar to makers throughout the centuries. The result is a fine instrument with a superior finish and sound. The violin is carved from solid tonewoods and finished with a hand-applied traditional shellac varnish to complement the individual look of each instrument. All instruments are individually workshop fitted.

Stentor cellos are carved from solid tonewoods with inlaid purfling and individually thicknessed for quality of sound. It has an ebony fingerboard and ebony pegs and is fitted with a composite tailpiece with integral adjusters (1/10 and 1/16 size have alloy tailpiece with integral adjusters). The outfit includes a quality full mounted wood bow with natural horsehair and ebony frog. The cello is protected in a well-designed padded nylon cover with safety reflectors, bow and accessory pockets and back straps.
